I've had several more questions about fast leveling.
For example...
James says: "right now I really want to know about leveling a
character from 35 to 60 in the fastest time possible".
And Stian writes: "level my druid fast up to lv 70, im lv 50
now... i want to join my friends in Karazan... im feral spec"
And you know, I think just about everyone playing WoW is
interested in getting leveled up fast, even if they also enjoy
hanging out in the big cities, crafting, chatting in the
Barrens, or fishing. The point is, even if you aren't "speed"
leveling, or trying to make level 70 by a certain date, you
still want to be as efficient as possible while you are working
on gaining XP and levels.

Leveling Fast
++++++++++++++
One of the frustrating aspects of the game is when you find
yourself back-tracking to pick up a quest you missed, or heading
back to Town to buy an item you didn't know you would need to
complete a quest, or wasting time on unnecessary trips between
zones while you are working on "delivery" quests.
So it's no surprise that the most important tactic for faster
leveling is to minimize your travel time:
- THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: group your quests, so you
can head into an area and complete several quests at once
- always grind mobs while you are traveling to a questing area,
especially if the mobs are 1-2 levels below your level so you
can kill them quickly and still get good XP
- don't get hung up on completing all the quests in one zone
before moving on... it's far more efficient to move among zones
of similar level (ie Stranglethorn Vale, Desolace, Arathi
Highlands, Thousand Needles, in the 32-38 range), working at
quests and mobs that are right at your current level for fastest
killing and completion
- manage your bags and inventory so that you don't have to run
back to vendor stuff or restock with food and arrows
Let's talk about grouping quests, and take James's question for
an example. Let's suppose he has been working up from level 35,
he has just finished up Stanglethorn Vale and Arathi Highlands,
and now he's ready to start on the Badlands.
At this point, most players have a vague idea, from looking at a
map or asking in General Chat, that Badlands has some quests at
the right level. So you head into the zone, and start exploring
at random, looking for quest givers and killing the odd beast as
you go.
James, if you do that, you'll be wasting a huge amount of your
play time. The quest givers in Badlands are mostly in obscure
spots, and there are several quests that require items you have
to gather from outside the zone. You can slice through all the
useful quests in Badlands in a third the time or less, if you
know where to go, what to bring with you, and what order to do
things in.
For example, you want to bring a Frost Oil, a Gyrochronatom, a
Healing Potion, and a Lesser Invisibility Potion along when you
first enter the zone. You should also grab a couple of quests in
Loch Modan before you go ("Badlands Reagent Run" and "Find
Agmond").
Then, you need to know that the first quest giver to seek out
should be Sigrun Ironhew... and where to find him :) And on and
on... which quests to pick up, what order to do them in, when to
head back to Thelsamar for re-stocking, and so on.
OK, now some players aren't in a hurry, and enjoy discovering
all this stuff for themselves. But if you're in a hurry, you
need help, or you're going to end up feeling very frustrated.
Myself, I leveled my first 3 characters to level 60 by trial and
error, and although I got faster and more efficient each time
through, I still couldn't keep track of the hundreds of little
"gotchas" that I told myself I would remember "next time."
The answer? Get yourself a step-by-step leveling guide. There
are two awesome guides, one for Alliance, one for Horde. I've
mentioned them before. You won't believe the amount of time they
save you while you are leveling. They tell you exactly what to
do, every step of the way.
I'm not kidding when I say that you will cut your time leveling
to 70 in half or better, by following these blueprints. For most
of us, as casual players (say about 20 hours a week in game),
this means you will get your main character to the end game
MONTHS sooner than you would without a guide. So in my opinion,
these guides are incredible value, although they cost about $35
each.

Another example, let's take Stian's questions, leveling his
Druid up from 50.
The Blasted Lands has some good quest XP available at 50, but a
lot of players skip most of this zone because the quests seem
scattered and slow. But Stian can get himself a quick 30,000 XP
in no time at all if he knows to dash in to the zone, grind on
the Vultures, Basilisks, Boars and so forth until he gets:
- 14 Vulture Gizzards
- 11 Basilisk Brains
- 6 Blasted Boar Lungs
- 6 Scorpok Pincers
- and 5 Snickerfang Jowels
Bingo! Thats' 5 quests ready to turn in, and a good percentage
of level 50 cleared. With Joana's Horde Guide, you just follow
the detailed map, which is keyed to the numbered step-by-step
instructions, and it's done.
Same deal for the Alliance, except with Brian Kopp's Alliance
1-70 Guide, you use an in-game map mod that is keyed to the
step-by-step blueprint.
Believe me, you will be amazed at how much faster you can work
your way through the levels when you use one of these guides.
FTW!
