Once you start making money with your freelancing you're going to need to pay taxes. And it doesn't matter whether you made $10 or $10,000, the tax man wants his cut. So don't forget the taxes. But there is more to finances than just taxes, you'll also have regular bills like rent, food, and your Internet connection. The tips in this lesson should help you to stay current with your bills while still earning a living.

Taxes
Paying Taxes While Freelancing
When you're freelancing, especially when you're starting out, it can be challenging to handle taxes. If you forget to save money for them or worse yet forget to pay them you set yourself up for large finacial problems later. Even if you're just starting out as a freelancer, thinking about your taxes from the beginning is important.

Finances
Freelancers Should Set Up an Emergency Fund
I said it before, but it's important, so I'm saying it again. If you don't have some money set aside to deal with dry periods, you'll be more worried and your creativity will suffer. And that starts a viscious circle. If you're really eager to get started freelancing, at least put some money in an account that isn't attached to a checkbook or ATM card. Then add to it whenever you can. Even $100 in a savings account can keep your mind on your business rather than on where your next meal is coming from.
