Ngozi Bell Appointed Region III Advocate
Will Work Closely With the Small Business Community
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ngozi Bell is the new Office of Advocacy, Regional Advocate for the federal government's Region III, covering Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. She will be the direct link between small business owners, state and local government agencies, state legislators, small business associations, and the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
"Ngozi Bell understands small business and she brings a wealth of valuable experience to the Regional Advocate position," said Winslow Sargeant, Chief Counsel for Advocacy. "As an entrepreneur and small business owner Bell will be able to advocate for and assist small businesses throughout the Mid Atlantic region."
Bell recently served as a Vice President for a seed and early venture capital firm focused on developing innovative companies in the clean technology and medical/life sciences sectors. In 2005, she founded NIAPA—Nigerian Americans in the Pennsylvania region—a nonprofit focused on education, small business development, and cultural exchange. Bell received her master's degree in electrical engineering from Florida A&M/Florida State University and her bachelor's degree in physics from University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria.
"I am honored to join the Office of Advocacy," said Bell. "I look forward to working closely with small businesses in Region III and bringing their concerns to Washington, D.C."
Regional Advocates help identify issues and concerns of small business owners. They also monitor the impact of federal policies on small business at the local level. They work closely with local government officials, state officials and legislators, and the Chief Counsel for Advocacy to develop programs and policies that encourage entrepreneurial success.
