Before I get into today's tips, I want to ask you a favor.
I can do a better job of giving you the info you need, if
I know exactly what you are looking for. So please take a
minute to send me a quick e-mail with your most burning
question about WoW... leveling, spec'ing your character,
PvP, farming a particular item, whatever matters to you
right now.

Now on with the tips:

Leveling Fast
++++++++++++++
Here's a tip that may seem counter-intuitive, especially since
I am also giving you advice on accumulating great wealth:
Avoid the Auction House while you are leveling up, at least until
you hit level 60 or so.
Why?
So many players seem to think you have to buy gear on the AH
in order to get an edge in PvE questing, so you can grind your
way through quests faster.
Just not true. Don't even bother going to the auction house until
you're level 60. Period. Even if your goal is to amass wealth, you
should put off playing the auction game until you start to
generate significant cash flow from your questing and farming. And
that means the Outlands.
The auction house can be highly addictive, and you'll more
likely than not end up spending countless hours there every time
you gain a level looking for better gear.
If you want the absolute fastest /played time possible (which
is the exact count of days, hours, minutes, and seconds you've
played a character), just make a mule character for yourself to
handle all of your auction house work.
Mail items back and forth between your "main" and your "mule"
to minimize your /played time to level 60.

Getting Gold
++++++++++++++
Many players pride themselves on having items that are hard to
get, and that no one else has. Bragging rights mean a lot in
WoW, whether it's claiming a "first kill" on your server, or
scoring a mount or a weapon that is rarely seen.
And strangely enough, the attraction of rarity extends to pets
as well. This makes for a rather simple gold technique.
As Alliance, you'll find that you can sell kittens (obtained
from the cat lady in Goldshire) to Horde players for 2g - 4g
apiece.
As Horde, you can buy snakes from the snake vendor in
Orgrimmar, and sell them to Alliance players for the same
kind of price, 2g - 4g.
Even better are rare vendor pets, such as the White Kitten
that is only available from Lil Timmmy in Stormwind. Timmy is
a "rare spawn" NPC, who wanders around the canal paths between
Cathedral Square, Old Town and the Dwarven District from time to
time. Buy his kitten for 70s when you spot him, and then sell it
to the Horde for 20g or more.
How do you sell to the opposite faction?
The easiest way is to put the pet (or whatever) up for auction
at one of the "neutral" auction houses, such as Booty Bay or
Gadgetzan.
If you're lucky enough to have two accounts, or if you have a
partner in the opposite faction, you can work together by
feeding each other faction-rare items through the neutral
Auction House, then putting them up for sale on the
regular Auction Houses in the main cities.
Here's an example:
A fairly common item on the Horde side is the recipe for
Savory Deviate Delight, which drops off easy mobs in The
Barrens. Your Horde character should watch for this recipe in
the Orgrimmar AH, and snap it up, generally in the price range
of 10g - 15g. Trade it to your Alliance character through the
neutral Auction House in Booty Bay (with two accounts, get
both characters online at the same time, meet at the AH, and
sell the item instantly to "yourself" for 2s or something...
to save on auction fees). Now sell it on the Ironforge AH for
40g - 80g, depending on the market on your server. Easy money
indeed!
Until next time ...
