[Secret Warcraft 02] More Leveling and Gold Tips for Korsaan

Hi again, Korsaan. Jonathan here again with some more powerful World of Warcraft tips just for you. Most of the WoW players who join this list ask for one of two things: How to level as quickly as possible, or How to get massive amounts of gold So, I'll be covering both of these key aspects of the game in depth, in upcoming issues of Secret Warcraft. Getting Gold Get the Auctioneer add-on for WoW. Using this one add-on can help you make much more gold in the AH, and so much faster. When you have this add-on loaded and you go into the Auction House, you'll be able to "scan" the entire AH inventory, gathering and storing the selling price of every item. Over time, your Auctioneer database will develop a history of pricing trends specific to the Auction House on your particular server. From now on, you will always know the right price for any item you want to sell (or buy). Bonus Video: Add-Ons Power! View now: Bonus Video Set You'll need to spend a few sessions "training" Auctioneer to your server's market. But once it has stored enough information, it will be able to tell you exactly what to sell your items for. It can identify items that are being sold below the usual price, which creates an opportunity for you to buy and resell at a profit. You also need this add-on to give you quick info on the proper prices to set for starting bid and buyout on the items you put up for auction yourself. Auctioneer is also great for identifying the hot items on your server. It will show you exactly what the other players on your server want the most. And this is the crucial information you need to make the most of the time you spend farming for gold (items to sell), as well as to succeed at playing the auction market. I can't stress enough how important it is to get to know the pricing environment on your specific server. Arcane crystals that go for 12g - 15g on my server may sell for 6g or so on yours. It doesn't always help to know what Allakhazam says is the going rate for an item, since your server may not follow the averages and trends across the hundreds of Warcraft servers. You can download Auctioneer for free at http://auctioneeraddon.com Leveling Faster Here's a secret that most WoW players just don't get. Up to level 50 or so, gear makes practically no difference to your game and your success. You will get excellent items for your level just by questing and doing instance runs. There is virtually nothing you can craft before level 50 that will give you a significant edge as you work your way up through the levels. So forget about tradeskills. Every single one of them is both a time waster and a money waster. You'll be way further ahead if you concentrate on leveling up as fast as possible, then take on the crafting skill that interests you when you get to a high level. The tailoring, leatherwork and blacksmithing goods you can make for yourself are second rate at any given level. And you'll waste a lot of time gathering or trading to get the materials you need. Even worse: if you're like most players, you'll also waste time obsessing about your gear, trying to squeeze an extra point of stamina out of a slot, when you should be out questing and gaining XP. When you look back from level 60 or 70, it's not going to matter that you had a Barbaric Iron Helm at level 35, or a Dreamweave Vest at 45. You'll find all the gear you need, simply by completing quests, killing mobs, and joining the occasional instance run. If you really want to do a tradeskill, wait until you hit level 50 or so, and you'll be able to skill up to 300 in a single day. Not to mention, you'll have all the gold you need to buy the materials you need at the Auction House. Now... gathering skills (mining, skinning, herbalism), that's another matter. I'll deal with those in an upcoming issue of Secret Warcraft. By the way, do you know how to tell exactly how much time you've spent leveling a character? It's easy, just type "/played" and you'll get a report, down to the minute, of how many hours you've spent on the current character, and how long at the current level.
